Bass-Jons Winter Series - 12/19/2011

Rick Burton and Dan Griffin Win the Lake Meade Winter Series Event with 5 lbs 12 oz

Temperatures in the 60's made for comfortable fishing conditions in mid-February on Lake Meade; however, winds in the 20-30mph range made boat control very difficult.  Most of the 10 boat field were forced to fish out of the wind, and few were able to bring fish to the scales, despite the warm conditions and water temperatures topping out around 50 degrees.  Rick Burton and Dan Griffin closed out the Winter Series with a win.  Their two-fish bag weighed in at 5 lbs 12 oz, which was caught on trick worms.  Their payout included a carryover from previous Winter Series events where no fish were weighed.  This made for a great start to the 2011 season for Rick, who also took home the Winter Series Points Championship, edging out Luther Showaker by 3 points.  The team of Mike Schneider and Bill Field was the only other boat to bring in multiple fish.  Their two fish bag was good for 2nd place at 4 lbs 4oz.  Jim Carlson and his grandson Michael finished third with the big fish of the tournament, a 4 lb hawg.  Finally, Mike Schneider and Bill Field cashed in on the small fish pot with a 1-12 fish.  Next up is the opening day for the 2011 season for Bass-Jons, also at Lake Meade.  We hope to see all members in attendance.
